Log file basics

1. How to post log files

  • Please do not copy the contents of a log file in your post on these forums! The forums do not format the logs very well and they'll often be too large anyway.
  • The preferred method is to upload the files is either via these forums (add an attachment) or, if the file is too large use a third party service such as Mediafire and link to the file in your post.
  • Currently these forums only allow 19.Kb size text documents and 97.Kb sized zip files.
  • When e-mailing Riot, you can add an attachment to your ticket - be sure to add any logs that may be of use, it'll save them from having to ask you for it and prolonging your issue.

Patcher related logs

1. rads_lol_launcher
  • This file is located in: */League of Legends/RADS/
  • You want to open the text document version (not the LOGS2 version)
  • This file has information regarding the "launcher" and may have errors that hint to problems associated with the game not starting (and by game, at this stage, we mean the patcher that loads up first)
  • Include the contents of this file with any issues regarding starting the game or the patcher!

2. rads_user_kernel

PVP.net related logs

1. Adobe air log files
  • This file is located in: *\League of Legends\RADS\projects\lol_air_client\releases\xyz\ deploy\logs
  • "xyz" is a numbered folder that can vary depending on the current version of the game, if there is more than one folder, pick the highest number.
  • The logs file names are a bit obscured, so use the "date modified" section to find the most recent one.
  • This file has information regarding Adobe Air (anything related to PVP.net) and may have errors that hint to problems associated with PVP.net
  • Include the contents of this file with any issues regarding PVP.net, including logging in issues.

Game logs

1. r3d log files
  • This file is located in: *\League of Legends\Logs\Game - R3d Logs
  • The logs file names are a bit obscured, so use the "date modified" section to find the most recent one.
  • This folder contains both netlogs and r3d logs, make sure it is the r3d log file
  • This file has information regarding the actual game and may have errors that hint to the problems associated with the game.
  • Include the contents of this file with any issues regarding the game (after champion select)

1. launcher.cfg
  • This file is used by the patcher to determine what server you will actually connect to and associated services (chat etc)
  • This file is what you edit in order to change between NA or EU servers.
  • The file is located in: *\League of Legends\RADS\system
  • You only want to edit "airConfigProject=lol_air_client_config_eu" to say either "na" or "eu"
  • note lower case letters

Language configuration files

1. locale.cfg
  • This file is used by the patcher to determine what language-based files should be downloaded and configured to use.
  • This file is what you edit in order to change your game's language.
  • The file is located in: *\League of Legends\RADS\system
  • The following is a list of available languages:
    1. en_gb
    2. de_de
    3. fr_fr
    4. es_es
    5. zh_cn
    6. en_us

Game configuration files

1. game.cfg
  • This file is used by the game to store mostly video related settings (model details, resolution etc)
  • The file is located in: *\League of Legends\Config
  • There will be no game.cfg if you have not changed your settings (accessible only within a game) from their default value.
  • Typically, 0 = "disabled" and 1 = "enabled"
  • Edit or replace this file to solve potential crashes and performance issues.
