stuck on 'retrieving version information'

Hi all,

Downloaded LoL a couple of days ago. Played fine at first, however since yesterday I have only been able to log in intermittently. The patcher (I am fully patched) hangs at retrieving version information. My log is as follows:

05/30/2010 02:04 [INFO] Solid LauncherLib [1.0.0.33] initializing...
05/30/2010 02:04 [INFO] Add App[League of Legends Launcher] Exe[C:\Program Files\League of Legends\lol.launcher.exe] to Windows Firewall
05/30/2010 02:04 [INFO] Retrieving dynamic path[http://patcher.lol-europe.com/lol-cb3.SourceURL.xml]
05/30/2010 02:04 [WARNING] Error retrieving [http://patcher.lol-europe.com/lol-cb3.SourceURL.xml] ErrorCode 950

To confirm I have tried the following:-

1) Full uninstall, removal of LoL and Adobe Air. Cleaned registry with CCcleaner. Downloaded new launcher, downloaded whole patch again. No luck.
2) Opened all relevant ports.
3) Reset IE to default.

Does anyone have any idea as to what may be causing this?

Have the same problem.

After a while the luncher show and error

ASSERT: the pointer is null

This is in my log:

bah i have the same problem :/ and my game worked just fine earlier today, but then i went away and when i came back a couple of hours later the same thing as you guys happend to me :S

I found a "fix"

After i changed my DNS servers i could presss play, but then the luncher just shuts down and tell me to "Please restart the application"!!!

Help would be nice!

I was fine tho.... Untill I relogged and tried to open my Client again, but then it kinda didn't load, so I reinstalled fully the entire game and yet, now it FREEZE, yes the Client FREEZE on me -.- So now we're like.... 12 people with this issue? Does ANYONE have an idea of how2fix ? o_O

- Maybe my imbaness wuuubed the game itself from starting? >D i kid, i kid

To work around the mentioned DNS issues, use the open DNS servers.
How to: http://kb.leagueoflegends.com/questi...ic+DNS+Servers

As you can see, some can connect with the old lol-europe.com address, and some players not.
This is the mentioned DNS issue of the providers, it's not up2date or the link to the wrong server.

Use the public DNS servers and it should work.
