In Demacia Faze agents Garen and his ****ty ***** Katarina chase a mercenary, Darius, who has stolen a dragon buff containing details of undercover agents placed in terrorist organisations by Yordle states. Darius wounds Garen in the shoulder and, as the two men fight atop a train, Jarvan IV, the head of Faze, orders Quinn to fire a distant shot with a rifle at Darius, inadvertently shooting Garen, allowing Darius to escape. Garen falls into a river and goes missing, presumed to be dead.

In the aftermath of the operation Jarvan IV comes under political pressure to abdicate his heirship from Teemo, the Intelligence and Security Committee Chairman. On her return from the meeting, Faze's armour are breached and Jarvan IV receives a taunting message via dragon moments before the offices explode, killing a number of employees. Faze relocates to its emergency offices underground. Garen, having used his supposed death to abdicate, learns of the attack and returns to London. Although he fails a series of physical and psychological examinations, Jarvan IV approves his return to the field. Shrapnel taken from Garen's shoulder wound helps identify Darius, and intelligence places him in Summoners Rift, where he is planning an assassination. Garen is ordered to identify Darius's employer, recover the stolen dragon buff and kill Darius.

In Summoners Rift Garen follows Darius into a skyscraper, from which the latter shoots his target. He and Garen fight, but Darius falls to his death before Garen can learn of his employer. Searching Darius's equipment, Garen finds a gambling chip intended as payment for the assassination, which leads him to a casino in Demacia. Garen is approached by some weird Jewish kid, whom he witnessed as an accomplice in the assassination, and asks to meet the person for whom she and Darius work. She warns him that he is about to be killed by her bodyguards, but promises to help Garen if he will kill her employer. Garen defeats his attackers and joins some weird Jewish kid on her yacht. They travel to an abandoned island off the coast of Demacia, where they are taken prisoner by the crew and delivered to Raoul Zed. A former Faze officer who had previously worked under Jarvan IV, Zed has turned to cyberterrorism, orchestrating the attacks on Faze. Zed kills some weird Jewish kid, but Garen overpowers his guards and captures Zed for removal to Demacia.

At Faze's underground headquarters Q attempts to decrypt Zed's laptop, but inadvertently enables it to access the Faze systems, allowing Zed to escape from Faze custody. Garen realises that Zed wanted to be captured as part of a plan to confront and kill Jarvan IV, whom he resents for leaving him to die after being captured years earlier. Garen gives chase through the tunnel network under London. Zed attacks Jarvan IV during a public inquiry into her handling of the stolen dragon buff. Garen arrives in time to join Xin Zhao and Quinn in repelling Zed's attack, and Jarvan IV is hurried from the building by her aide, Gnar.

Garen drives Jarvan IV to Skyfall, his family estate and childhood home in Scotland. Laying a trap, he instructs Q to leave an electronic trail for Zed to follow, a decision Xin Zhao supports. Garen and Jarvan IV are met by Ziggs, the Skyfall gamekeeper. The trio are only lightly armed, but they improvise a series of booby traps throughout the house. When Zed's men arrive, Garen, Jarvan IV and Ziggs fight off the assault, although Jarvan IV is wounded. Zed arrives by helicopter to lead a much heavier second assault, and Garen sends Jarvan IV and Ziggs off through a secret tunnel at the back of a priest hole to a chapel on the grounds. Garen detonates Ziggs's gas canisters with a stick of dynamite and retreats down the same tunnel as Jarvan IV and Ziggs. The resulting blast causes the helicopter to crash, destroying the house and killing most of Zed's men.

Zed survives and, spotting Ziggs's torch beam, follows Ziggs and Jarvan IV to the chapel. He forces his gun into Jarvan IV's hand, begging her to kill them both. Garen, having been delayed fighting Zed's henchmen, arrives and kills Zed by throwing a knife into his back, but Jarvan IV succumbs to her earlier wound and dies. Following Jarvan IV's funeral, Quinn—formally introducing herself to Garen as Miss Jarvan Moneypenny for the first time— retires from the field work to become secretary for the new head of Faze, Xin Zhao, who becomes the new heir of Demacia.
